It won’t look like this for long....

The design stage of my new custom bike is progressing well and should be finished within a week or so.

I am not going to give anything away about what it might eventually look like, but there are some pictures below showing what the donor bike currently looks like.

So, what will we be keeping from the existing bike?  Just two things.  The engine and the frame.  A whole bunch of spare parts will be going on eBay soon!

The completed bike should be ready by the middle of April, so I will keep you posted!

Can't wait to see what it looks like when it is all complete.

Hopefully you will give us hints along the way.

I am so curious! I can't wait to see what you've done with it. But please: No flames on the paint job ;-)

So the current one is up for pilferage, eh? Hmm, do you think the saddlebags would fit my Sporty?

Chris – All the toys? Wait a second, how many bikes do you have? LOL. You are right – it is a project that certainly keeps the winter blues away!

Sonja – I have already got a paint job in mind and don’t worry, as there will not be one flame to be seen. I will ask my H-D dealer if the saddlebags will fit a Sportster.

Gary/Sonja:

everything will fit. That's what Duct Tape was designed for.

One day I may take that first step, you know, actually sit on an H-D

Looking forward to seeing more Gary!

Bob - Duct tape? What's that?
Sonja - Don't listen to Uncle Bob. Us Harley owners wouldn't be seen dead with tape made for ducks on our bikes.

Eve - As my sons would say, it will be wicked!

Now I'm intrigued. Will watch for updates/hints as the build progresses.

Canajun – Updates and hints will be published as the work proceeds.....

love the softail custom...cant wait to see!

and sonja, the rear shock mount on XL's is more like a dyna and limits your clearance horizontally. the softail rearend is a completely different setup and swingarm, which may interfere with clearance vertically. fortunately they look like soft small bags, if small enough they make work. have gary take bag measurements and compare to your bikes clearances both top down and front back. these bags may fit...

Same here, can't wait to see it :-)

mq01 – Thanks for the advice, on a subject you clearly know well. I have now got the bags sitting in my garage and I will send the dimensions (and part number) to Sonja so she can check if they will fit.

George – More hints on what it will look like will be on the way soon!

The new custom bike is looking very nice. Rider can get the lots of space when they ride this bike. The controlling of this bike is nice.
