Book Update

Having been very busy with writing my book recently, I haven't done much in the way of putting much on my own blog, or commenting on others. I have been lurking though and reading many blogs, just not commenting.

That will remain the case for a while, while I press on with getting the book finished. I have now written 24 out of 33 of its chapters, so good progress has been made.

I am sorting and editing the photos that will be included in the book as I go, and my Cousins partner, Helen, has been editing my words on a chapter-by-chapter basis.

I hope to finish writing by the end of April, with the final editing and book layout completed by say June, printing done in say August, making the book available from about 1st October.  That’s the target, anyway!

I haven't forgotten my promise for those that commented on my blog before or during my tour of America!

Keep up the good work. I am sure it is time consuming. Don't wear yourself out.

Good stuff Gary. I have just started reading Jupiters Travels, but I look forward to reading yours over the xmas break next year.

I am sure it is a most rewarding experince for you. AS you near the end you will have a great senses of accomplishment.

No Name - too right.  Just get her done!

Oz - time consuming is right, and some!  It has taking far more time than I expected.

Roger - You are right about the sense of accomplishment.  I started by counting how many chapters I had tick off on my list, but now I can just look at how many chapters are left to write. That feels so much better.

This is awesome news. Something to look forward come next winter.

The way you are used to planning projects I am sure that you will hit your set timeline on the spot.

Well, you have me on the hook so mark me a copy. Sure, your closer to getting yours done. Hopefully I'll have mine done and on your shelf one day.

mq01 – It is fun writing it, but it is a lot more challenging than I thought it would be.

Trobairitz – As soon as the number of chapters left to write was less than the number already written, plugging away seemed to get a lot easier!

Dave – You won’t need to save. When I decided to write the book I made a promise on my blog that I fully intend to keep. That was that everyone who had written a comment on my blog before my trip across the USA finished, would receive a free copy of my book. Those comments helped and encouraged me to keep writing my blog each day and without that, there would be no book, so I want to say thank you to those people that kept reading my blog and without knowing it, drove me to keep writing.

VStar Lady – Thanks, I hope that you enjoy reading it.

Sonja – As I sit here and think about people looking at book next winter, I hope they will be cheered by the amount of blue skies in so many of the pictures. I think I will hit my timeline, he said, full of hope......

Wooley – There will be a copy heading you way as soon as the ink is dry. Writing is much more time consuming that I ever imagined. I look forward to reading yours.

Gary, having written a couple of books myself I can relate. The last one (a family history) took 10 years on and off, but I think you'll be done faster than that! :)

Canajun - I hope mine is quicker than ten years!

Sounds very exciting Gary!
It was probably a good idea to wait a little while to do the writing. There would be a better chance to do some reflection. I'm wondering if you have had any trouble recalling specific events from Timbuktu America. At any rate, good luck with the rest of the writing. Looking forward to reading it someday.

That journey was such a big part of so many of our lives all those months Gary. I'm sure that it will be enjoyed by your family for ages as well!

I remember actually being disappointed your journey came to an end. It was fun looking at our country through your eyes. Can't wait to see it!

I totally agree with LR. Something happened to my blogging mentality after the journey was over Gary. Kind of went through some kind of "virtual loss". It really was a great connection for the "natives" brought to us courtesy of a Yankee Brit!!

Jimbo - Recalling everything isn't too much of a problem as I have my blog to provide so any reminders.  I did wait a while, but I now wish I'd started earlier as it seems to be taking much longer than I would have preferred. I have learned I am not good at reflection!

Eve - it was very good of so many people to follow what this Englishman was doing in that great country of yours.

Lady R - That is kind of you to say,  much of the book is photos, so you will be able to see much of it again.

Eve - it sounds odd to say sorry for your "virtual loss".  The end of the tour took some getting used to for me, but I didn't expect it affect others as well.....

KT - Hopefully you will enjoy it.....
