Amelia Custom Bike Update

It’s been a while since I posted any pictures of the progress on my new custom bike, Amelia.

Here is the donor bike, being dismantled....

Parts were sent off for engraving. We went to see what progress the engraver was making this week. I have to say, he is doing a fantastic job.

These are the rocker box covers....

The gearbox cover....

Don, the engraver, just starting on the primary drive cover....

Don's very simple tools. Everything he engraves is by hand, with simple hammers and chisels. Simply amazing....

Of course, I had to try it myself....

Later, the foot controls were delivered. This is the brake lever and reservoir....

Good progress is being made and Warrs (the London Harley Dealer) are on target to get the bike finished by the end of April.  In the meantime, I am off to Cuba tomorrow.....

Things are coming together... or in your case, slowly coming apart, at least for a while. Manually engraved... awesome.
Will you keep the mini ape hangers?

Have fun in Cuba!!!

I can't wait to see her when she is done.

Have fun in Cuba.

What beautiful detail work. It must be a pleasure to watch Don work his magic. I wonder if there are that many master craftsmen around who still do this with hammer and chisel.

...oh, I see, he has a new student! ;)

Amelia will be a piece of art though I felt I needed a moment of silence for the doner. Will there be a recognizable piece of her on Amelia after such a sacrifice?

Dear Sir:

You're going to have to park this in a bank vault. What great work! I can hardly wait to see the bike.

Fondest regards,
Jack/reep

Sonja – Things have been coming apart and are not yet being put back together. In fact, many of the original parts will never go back on the bike, but will instead be departing here via e-bay. The frame is being adjusted at the moment and that will determine the size and shape of the bars.

Trobairitz – I love the engraving too. Hopefully, we won’t have overdone it, because there will be a lot of it by the time its finished!

Roger – Indeed, it is very exciting.

mq01 – The engraving is pure art. It will look stunning.

No name – Its high sometimes, but hits lows also sometime!

Bluekat – Watching Don work his engraving magic was just superb and a privilege.

VStar Lady – I am afraid your moment of silence is most appropriate. There will be just two main parts retained from the original donor bike – the frame (modified0 and the engine (also modified). Much of the rest of the bike will be spread across the UK via e-bay.

Chris – Cuba was a blast!

Jack – It won’t be long until you see the finished bike. The target is the end of April. I will tow the bank vault behind the bike.

Webster – Hopefully, yes!

BeemerGirl – Don is a complete star and artist.
