It was with considerable sadness, but not much surprise, that I learned of her death a week ago. I was on the ferry returning from Spain when I heard the news. I didn’t have any affinity with Amy herself and it was clear some time ago that she had pressed the self-destruct button, but I did feel a loss for the music the world would now not be able to hear – the music she had yet to make.
I was in London yesterday and I realised I was very close to where Amy Winehouse lived, so I went and took a look at her house, the flowers and tributes.
Sadly, I think the empty booze bottles containing flowers speak volumes about her life.

What a waste of a great talent. She had it coming for a long time, too much living in the fast lane. RIP, Amy.
I thought the same thing when I saw the flowers in the liquor bottles. I remember her singing, "They wanna make me go to rehab, I say No, No, No."
Who knows the demons that come to some people when they close their eyes in search of peace? I hope shehas peace now... There was none the night she got booed off the stage.
I think Hunter S. Thompson said it best... "It's better to be shot out of a cannon than squeezed out of a tube." Too bad that option comes sooner than later for some. Amy Winehouse had a haunting voice... It will now have that quality forever.
